I’ve been a Julep Maven for almost a year, but when Julep premiered their October boxes I was completely ready to pass yet again. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten a box – I sent one to Alli and we gave away one on The Daily Varnish – but when Julep decided to have a shatter-free box – I was over the moon for the simple yet classy chic colors. I simply couldn’t pass it up!
I love getting Julep boxes because it’s like opening a present every month! I love that things are wrapped inside! The glitter and the candy corn (not shown) were not wrapped up. Black and Orange glitter – perfect timing for Halloween!

Now, for the best part! Onto the polishes!! The October 2012 Maven’s Choice box featured three polishes – each of which was in another style box paired with a crackle partner in crime. Without a doubt the color that sold me on getting the Maven’s Choice box was Lisa – a warm pebble grey? Yes please!!
From Top to bottom the Maven’s choice polishes are:
- Keira – a deep merlot red creme (Bombshell)
- Lisa – a warm pebble grey cream (Boho Glam)
- Eloise – a smokey indigo blue creme (American Beauty)
I love these colors! It feels like a Fourth of July polish set that’s spot on for Fall. Another change I’ve noticed since the last box
I received is that the label’s now contain the style the polish came from! Side Note:
according to my Style Quiz results I’m an American Beauty – though I almost always switch to another style.
Another bonus to Julep is that they are great with packaging. If we’re close to a holiday they’ll throw in some themed extras or candy with matching packing paper to get you in a festive mood.
After opening the box I’m about ready to go trick-or-treating a month early!
This month included two glitters: orange and black for Halloween – of course! I’ll probably send them to Alli because I’m certain she can be far more creative with these than I can – but they are fun nonetheless!
So, ladies – what do you think? If you’re already a Maven I’d love to know what box you got and what you think! If you’d like to be a Maven simply click here, take the style quiz, and voila!
Try out the code COLOR2012 to your first month for a penny! If that code doesn’t work leave a comment and I’ll track down some more!
I’ll leave you with some “Simply Bewitching” words of wisdom from Julep…I kind of like it.

Looks like I received the same box that you did. The candy corn was a pleasant surprise, wasn’t it?
I was confused about the glitter, though. Do you think it’s meant to put on as eyeshadow (which is what I originally thought), or do we sprinkle it on our nail polish while it’s still wet (and before applying the top coat)? Or is it for making crafts? Any advice would be great, since there wasn’t any description of it in the box.
Thanks!
You know… I have no idea about the glitter! I’ll have to open it up and see!! The candy corn was certainly a great treat to include!
Here you go! I found this on Julep’s blog. I decided to look it up since I’m planning on gifting the glitters – but you were correct, sprinkle it on your nail while it’s wet
I’m sure you could use it for crafts too!
