I tweeted yesterday that I went to Ulta for an “essential” (foundation) and ended up with way more than that! After I went to Ulta I stopped by Sally Beauty Supply and picked up (more than) a few things as well.
To see all the goodies I picked up check below the jump!

The reason I went to Ulta in the first place was they had all Revlon cosmetics 40% off. I’ve been wanting to try the Revlon ColorStay foundation for ages. And with the weather quickly warming up, I figured now was as good of a time
as ever. Since I’m super pale I picked up the lightest color they had to offer; 110 Ivory. Despite that I have pretty normal skin I got the combination/oily skin version of this foundation. I like to heavily moisturize plus the humidity in Charlotte can make almost anyone’s skin somewhat oily!
NYX cosmetics were also 40% off. So of course I had to stroll down the NYX aisle. I love NYX loose pigments and with 40% off they were less than $2. I picked up Nude Pearl because a girl can never have too many nude shimmery eyeshadows! I think this will look great as a subtle eye look when I want to wear on of my favorite bright spring lipsticks.
Physicians Formula cosmetics were also on sale so I picked up a new Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum in Ultra Black. It’s my holy grail liquid liner and my current one is on its last leg.
The final thing I picked up at Ulta was a total impulse purchase. I was headed towards checkout when I saw the Katy Perry eylure display. Everytime I see that display I consider purchasing a set of lashes. The packaging is just so cute! I ended up with the Sweetie Pie lashes. I wore these last night and was very impressed. I will do a review soon!
After I left Ulta I stopped by Sally Beauty Supply. They had their entire stock of nail polishes buy 2 get 1 free. I spotted the Finger Paints Gumdrops & Lollipops display and immediately knew I had to have Grape Gumball. I also picked up Easel-y Entertained and Louvre This Pink from the permanent line.
As I was checking out the Finger Paints display a Sally Girl display caught my eye. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a special Sally Girl polish display so I was intrigued. The display was called Stop & Smell The Colors. All of the mini polishes are scented. Despite the fact that I have very limited experience with Sally Girl polishes I knew I had to pick up a couple. I settled on Coconut and Orange (you can check out my review of Orange here). Since they were buy 2 get 1 free I also got Epic from the permanent line.
Last and probably the most uninteresting from this haul are mini bobby pins. I use these a ton when I do up dos or basically anything involving a braid. I just got 2 packs of the Sally Beauty brand MetaGrip Premium Mini Bob Pins.
I think that’s going to be the last beauty haul for me for a good while! All of the nail polishes will eventually be reviewed over on our proper blog, The Daily Varnish. Everything else will be reviewed right here on The Daily Varnish Extra

i got some of those sally girl scented polishes too! the green lime one is okay-smelling but very faint after a day. to be fair, i only did a french mani tip with it, maybe a whole nail would have more/longer lasting scent? i have heard many people with sing the praises of the revlon colorstay foundation. i’ve never tried it myself, i do have combination skin, though. and sooooo true about charlotte humidity and face-ooze in the summer :/ hope the colorstay works out for you!
Hmm….I tried a Revlon scented polish ages ago and the scent faded pretty quickly. So I imagine the same will be true for the sally girl. We shall see!
I’ve been wearing the ColorStay foundation the last few days and so far I really like it. But I’ll have to wait until that dreadful humidity kicks in to really know if it’s going to work!
